Meet the Founder: Alexia Rojas

Born in Antofagasta, Chile, in the middle of the Atacama Desert — the driest place on Earth — I have spent many years traveling throughout Latin America and have always been captivated by our vibrant dances, music, and rich cultural heritage.

With over 15 years of experience teaching and leading large teams to design and implement academic projects for schools, I have dedicated my career in Chile and New Zealand to empowering others through education. Recently, I expanded my expertise with a Project Management credential, enabling me to combine my passion for learning and leadership into Allyship Projects.

Living in New Zealand reignited my connection to my Latin American roots, inspiring me to celebrate our culture while navigating life in a new country.

As a secondary teacher, I created The Latino Group, extra-curricular activity in my school with the purpose of introducing students to the richness of Latin American traditions through Spanish lessons, cultural dishes from Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Chile, and vibrant school dance performances.

This experience, coupled with my work with charities like Mano Amiga and Belong Aotearoa, deepened my appreciation for the contributions of our community.

Allyship Projects was born from this vision—to empower Latin Americans through skill-building workshops in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, support small businesses, and create opportunities for connection.

Together, we can bridge cultural gaps, foster inclusivity, and ensure that all Latin@s can thrive and achieve their dreams in Aotearoa, New Zealand. I invite you to become an Ally and join us in building a more inclusive and connected future.
