Project: Happy Mind, Happy Family

Creating community initiatives to promote ethnic equity

To empower migrant families in addressing the emotional challenges of migratory grief by equipping them with practical tools and strategies to enhance their mental well-being, strengthen family bonds, and build resilience in their new environment. Through workshops delivered by professional counsellors, participants will learn to prioritise their emotional and mental health as a foundation for effectively supporting their loved ones. The project fosters empathy, encourages positive communication, and teaches collaborative goal-setting to create stronger family connections while establishing sustainable support networks within their communities. This initiative aims to promote emotional stability and unity, helping families thrive together in their journey of adaptation and growth in Aotearoa.

Project Structure: The programme consists of 5 workshops, delivered once a month, designed for the whole family. Workshops are facilitated by professional counsellors and provide a safe, welcoming space for families to learn, connect, and grow together. Sessions are delivered in Spanish and Portuguese, making them accessible to migrant communities while supporting their wellbeing and integration in Aotearoa.
